Wrecked at Fremantle

We’rrrrrrrre back!

It’s so good to be back in the van on the West Coast after 2 months of other stuff on the East Coast.

Good news is, everything seems to be still working, almost.

Thankfully the fridge was, so that’s a relief. Jayne had left a little ice bucket full of ice cubes in the freezer so we’d know if the fridge stopped while we were away. We were very happy to see ice cubes (& not a bucket of water) when we returned.

So the van had been running on solar for 2 months. The van charging thingy-magigs worked a treat & the batteries were nearly fully charged.

The auxiliary battery in the car, however, was not so lucky. 3.6Volts ain’t gunna help much. This was easily repaired with a bit of frantic Friday running about & $450!  Evidently, a couple of accessories run off it directly and so over the 2 months it ran right down & died.  There was also a bit of swelling on the sides of the battery (not a good sign) so I figured it best to replace it rather than attempt a recharge. We really don’t want to get caught out later with it failing somewhere like the middle of the Simpson Desert. I may need to mount that solar panel on the roof of the cruiser to stop this happening again. Just one more tinkering task.

Back in the van and back on our tough restrictive camping diet.

Van hard rations. Nom, nom, nom…

Next day we’re off exploring.  We have  found that swimming or snorkelling helps with Jayne’s back issues so we found a wreck to explore.

Wreck of the Omeo – North Coogee, WA.

Great spot, warm clear water & an easy snorkel.

Fremantle Market is a great place to wander about. There’s a very diverse selection of food, produce, arts & crafts.

Very busy & a good vibe about the place

Great Fruit & Veg

Fremantle Markets

The Markets had a little farm animal section. What do you reckon the thing below is?

It’s a fluffy chook! Head’s on the right…

There were lots of very cute baby animals. The small children (Jayne & I) were having a hoot with the little critters.

Cute & fluffy/furry

So, a goat, a pig & a sheep walk into a baaaaaaaaa! It was the sheep’s idea.

It seemed to be getting a bit warmer as the day wore on. After the markets we made our way back to the van, around the middle of the day. It took a little while for the Aircond to get on top of things.

We may leave the Aircond on low next time we go out…

Heading to Margaret River via Bunbury next, we think.
