We took a big hit in 2016 & 2017 rolls on!

Woooosh! Last thing we remembered it was November 2016 & we’d just got back into van land after a couple of months doing “out of van” experiences. I’d just had a great time surfing in the Maldives for 3 weeks & another week surfing on the NSW South coast with a bunch of old surf dogs. Jayne was doing some busy important person stuff & spending some quality time with her Dad in Newy.  We also got to spend some chill’n out time together at Crescent Head.

So, we’d only been back in WA & van land for about a week before we heard news that my Mum was not doing so well. We’d spent time with her just the week before & she’d been bright & cherpy.

So we got back on a plane to the East coast ASAP. We travelled all night & arrived in time to spend a couple of hours with her before she passed. Very sad.  All her kids were there, as well as some grandchildren & great grandchildren. While we all kinda expected it (Ellen was 96 & 1/2!) it was still a shock to the system.

Even though she swears her heart was as strong as an ox & the pain was just a bit of heartburn, she surcumed to a series of heart attacks & died peacefully on the 2nd December 2016 at 1:11pm.

Christmas was a bit flat without her, but it was great to catch up with the rest of the family.

So now we’re back in the van & continuing on our journey while we are still relatively well & able. Perth for a few days & then off to Margaret River.
