Another seaplane trip and off we go to see the Horizontal Falls.
You get a real good view of the mudflats of Derby on the way out & back
Fly over the Falls before landing on Talbot Bay.
Water landings are fun.
Then load 20 people in a 900 HP speedboat and go Zoom Zoom back & forth thru/up/down the falls.
The difference in water levels between the two sides can get up to 5 metres depending on tides. They only run the boat trips thru the falls up to 2 metres.
This was followed by shark cage swim & feeding, both the sharks & us.
Jayne even got to give one of the Sharks (Timmy the Tawny Nurse shark) a pat as the handler held him. He seemed to like the attention & was quite relaxed. Tick that one off the bucket list.
Drinks & nibbles followed by another boat excursion to admire some of the amazing rock formations.

This part of the country has seen a lot of tectonic activity.
Sunset dinner, a few drinks, but not enough to get horizontal & a restless night’s sleep on the houseboat.
Another early morning session of speed boating with the option of a helicopter flight.
We declined both & instead enjoyed a more casual breakfast & the surrounding serenity for a little bit longer. Plus we spotted a few more SHARKS. It’s best not to think about the fact that your standing on a pontoon or being flung around a speedboat, seaplane or helicopter while there are heaps of sharks about. Just waiting… And salty crocodiles.
I was impressed with one of the helicopters. VH-HKD. HKD are my dad’s initials. He would have loved this place & had a go at everything, twice.
Back on the seaplane & back to Derby. More mudflats…
Returned to camp by 9am & feeling a bit tired. More domestic duties & a bit of tinkering today. Tomorrow we’re off to Broome.
