We’re in dinosaur country!
The region between Richmond Hughenden & Winton is known as the dinosaur trail in these parts.
Over the last couple of days we have viewed just a few specimens from about 500 million years ago.
There’s a gorge 60km North of Hughenden that cuts thru rock that dates back about 500 million years. It’s on our list of to dos for the next lap. Maybe we’ll discover the Svenasaurus!
We stopped at Richmond to visit Kronosauras Korner
Heaps of great (as in huge) fossils on display here including this one which is one of the most complete specimens ever found. In real life it may have looked something like this
But wait there’s more…But the biggest bad boy in the group was the Kronosauras. It lived in the sea but would easily have eaten a T-Rex for breaky. It grew up to 10 metres and had teeth up to 30cm long.

Later that day we free camped by a creek just outside of Julia Creek. The site was sponsored and hosted by the local council. They are doing a good job.
In the afternoon we had a 2km round trip walk into town to have a Chardy at the local pub.
We returned just in time for happy hour with the rest of the free campers. It was good to discuss where we’d/they’d been or we’re going to. Lots of tips & tricks. Here’s a view to our next camp, maybe?
No surf & no rain on the radar.
