It was really really hard to leave Yamba (and Angourie) after a couple of very chilled weeks of R&R. But it was definitely time to leave as Jayne was starting to look at real estate.
Today was an easy drive with more evidence of highway upgrades in progress. Maybe it’ll all be finished by the time we do a lap of Aus.
After lunch we made the big trip to QLD (12km) to visit Snapper Rocks. Due to my incredible navigational skills we ended up at Greenmount beach (next break north).
We had a swim (really warm water) & I managed a fun surf in 2′ fast hollow waves on Jayne’s mal. It’s easy to see how Parko & Fanning became such great surfers when this is what they had to work with in their back yard.
Lots of bush turkeys & lizards on the board walk between the two beaches.
We’re here for a day or two before a flight back to Newy for a few days. The forecast is for an increase in swell, so fingers crossed for more waves.
We’ve made it this far north in the van before, but once we get up to about Noosa it’ll really feel like the lap of Aus has begun. Still feels pretty good at the moment. Jayne’s back is still improving but with some way still to go.
