Big Island & Back

Work, Work Wooork… & Party Party Party…

Back to Newy for a couple of days to catch up with family & let Jayne attend to some board meetings (of the non waxed variety).

We helped celebrate Robbie’s 50 something birthday in an Ethiopian restaurant. It was a great night out & Robbie is now a little bit closer to that big six-o.

The trip back to Hobart started with a bit of a drama. The plan was to leave early, drive & give ourselves time for breaky in the Qantas Club. A pile up on the harbour bridge stuffed that plan & we thought we were going to miss our flight.

This never happens in Tassie

To add to the tension, airport security searched my back pack as I suspect the roll of cable & fridge remote temp sensor looked like a bomb trigger mechanism.

As it was we had plenty of time, about 5 minutes to spare before boarding… The drive from Newy to Mascot took 4 hours. 1.5 hrs to get to the end of the concrete & 2.5 hrs from Pymble to the airport.

Leaving, on a jet plane, only just!

Once back on the southern island state we spent a night in Treasure Island caravan park with the ducks & rabbits before heading for the East coast.

There’s a great fish’n’chip van in Triabunna on the way so we stopped for lunch.

Triabunna Fish Van – Down near the wharf behind the pub

We’d been here a few weeks earlier & reckon it’s the best in Tassie to date. Grilled Fish, a large cone of chips & a great coffee for $10!

Num, num nums

On our last visit we almost managed to flip one of their picnic tables so it was good to see they’d taken some continuous improvement steps & OH&S measures to ensure that never happens again.

Back on the road we arrive at the coast later in the afternoon & set up camp near Sam & Glenn in the Chain of Lagoons free camp.

So now we are back in the van & away from the big city madness. Our life balance has been restored & it is good.
