What a lot Abalone!

The Hunter & Gatherer was dispatched today. So it was off for a snorkel along Green Pt this morning in search of lunch.
No luck with the fishes but abalone were a plenty so I managed to pick up 10 (that’s how many you can collect in one day if you have a licence… which I do) One of the healthy black lip specimens.

Green Point, lots of abs everywhere but the bigger (legal) ones were further out behind that rock.

Part of the End Result

Thinly sliced, tenderised a bit with the back of our hatchet. Lightly coated in rice flour, a bit of pepper & shallow fried in some butter & macadamia oil. Yum yum.

Couldn’t resist showing off a bit by presenting a tasting plate to some of our fellow campers who were very complimentary.

Off to Smithton now to collect stuff not easily procured with a snorkel or a spear gun. Tofu, fruit & vege etc.
