Binalong to Launceston

We felt a bit sad leaving the Bay of Fires, it had been a fun couple of weeks.

The surf was either huge or flat so not a lot of surfing was done, but it was good to check out the surrounding coastline.

Binalong Bay Beach

St Helens Ocean Beach

Georges Bay

We did manage a dip in the ocean 5 days in a row. What’s the water like? Fresh would be an understatement. Jayne was very brave & even had 2 dips on one day. My one attempt at hunting & gathering lobsters produced a big nothing, but I looked the part.

As we headed out of Binalong Bay we passed Humbug Point & thought it appropriate for this time of year.

We booked into Hadspen Caravan Park (wot, pay for camping?) near Launceston. From here we had a bit of a look around the city, had the Cruiser 40Km service & sorted where we would leave the van while back on the North Island over Christmas.

Monkeys in the park were worth a look.

This got me thinking that compared to the last 2 weeks, the Hadspen Caravan Park felt a bit like being in a cage for a couple of days while we waited to fly out to Newy.

Hadspen Caravan Park from behind bars. It’s OK, we had plenty of water & bananas.
